The government has dropped all quarantine requirements for foreign travelers coming into Bali.

Here are the requirements to obtain Visa on Arrival :

  1. Passport valid for 6 months since date of entry;
  2. Return or onward ticket (which indicates the date of departure from Indonesia);
  3. Insurance that includes a coverage for Covid-19 treatment in Indonesia.;
  4. Visa on Arrival fee Rp. 500.000,-
  5. Other relevant documents as requested by Covid-19 Task Force (please refer to Indonesia health protocols below).

Please prepare your documents and follow the health and safety measures in Indonesia.

If you are not a national from any of the countries eligible for VOA, then you will need to apply for a Visitor visa (E-Visa) before you fly – these include but is not limited to:

  • 211 A Visa; This visa includes tourist, emergency, business, film, medical visit, official visit, yachters and G20 or the 144th International Parliamentary Union (IPU) meetings.
  • To apply for visitor and limited-stay visas, visit https://visa-online.imigrasi.go.id/.

Indonesia applies the following health protocols updated January 2023 until further notice.

  1. Have proof of full Covid-19 Vaccination (x2 doses) or Medical Exemption letter
  2. Download Peduli Lindungi App to upload Vaccine Certificates (however, if certificates do not get verified on the app – you can show a copy of your printed vaccine certificate)
  3. Have an exit ticket flight out of Indonesia if you got VOA or B211A visas

Bali’s main international airport is Ngurah Rai (DPS).

Check-in will be at 2:00pm on the opening day (e.g. if your trip dates are 1st-7th, opening day is the 1st and check-in will be at 2:00 PM).

Check-out will be at 11:00 am on the final day of each trip (e.g. if your trip dates are 1st-7th, the final day is the 7th and check-out will be at 11:00 am)

We would highly recommend flying in the day before the opening day and booking transitional (e.g. hotel or AirBnb) accommodation for the night so that you do not miss any of the activities on the first day and are in time for check-in. Unfortunately, we don’t have a recommended list of places to stay either but we’d suggest booking accommodation in the Canggu area as that is where all BTR villas are located so when you book your taxi transfers it will be easier and cheaper for you.

We’d highly recommend downloading the Gojek and Grab apps (Asia’s equivalent to Uber and Lyft) before you fly, so you can book taxis with ease.

The purchase and consumption of alcohol are legal in Bali. However, please be aware that Indonesia enforces extremely strict drug laws. Drugs are illegal and not allowed. If you are found to be in possession or even found to have drugs in your system, you will be arrested, prosecuted, and potentially given a life sentence in prison.

We do not want you to get into any trouble, so we urge to respect the laws of Bali during your stay! Please, be aware that the BTR operates a zero-tolerance policy on drugs. If at any time during your stay you are found in possession of illegal substances, we reserve the right to cancel your booking without paying you a refund. This means (amongst other things) that you could be made to leave the villa you have booked immediately.

We always recommend speaking to your doctor and getting the appropriate advice on anything you may need before you travel.

However, in regards to COVID-19, travelers do NOT need to show proof of being fully vaccinated anymore, but the Indonesian government still “suggests”/”recommends” travelers be fully vaccinated or “boosted”.

Additionally, please also note Yellow Fever vaccination certificates are required for travelers arriving from countries with a high risk of Yellow Fever transmission.

Wi-Fi will be available in your villa and in most cafes & restaurants all around Bali. You will also be able to purchase a local SIM card after you land either in the Airport or at a local shop nearby your villa that will keep you connected 24/7! Just speak to your BTR host on arrival.

All the standard modes of transport such as cars, taxis and bikes are available in Bali. However, the most common way locals get around the island is by motorbikes and scooters.

As part of your BTR package, you will get a driver (car) assigned to your villa who will take you and your villa group to and from all BTR activities.

However, when you’re not doing any BTR activities it is still super easy to travel around! We recommend downloading the GO-JEK and GRAB apps on your smartphone (iOS or Android) so you can order a taxi (car or scooter) wherever you are! You’ll also be able to order food from restaurants or even do grocery shopping through those apps!

If you have a valid International Driver’s License and the appropriate insurance, you will also be able to rent out a scooter or car at competitive rates from various merchants in Bali.

The national currency in Indonesia is called the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) and it is the main currency accepted in Bali.

You can easily exchange foreign currencies to Indonesian Rupiah at exchange counters available at the airport and all around Bali. However, for the best rates, we recommend changing foreign currencies at your home location before you fly out.  Rates and commissions vary between merchants so make sure you count your money!

 Indonesian Rupiahs (IDR) can also be directly withdrawn from ATM’s all around Bali at a rate established by your bank. Furthermore, Debit/Credit Card payments are available at most (but not all – so we recommend carrying some cash) venues, restaurants, and shops.

To avoid the risk of your debit/credit card getting blocked or flagged, please inform your bank that you will be traveling to Indonesia.

The weather is great in Bali, there are clear skies and sun almost all year round – with temperatures of 77 degrees fahrenheit and above! However, hot season tends to be between May-October/November depending on the year.
